Recruitment & Training
The Chinook Centre Security Department is always looking for applicants who possess the skills and personality to work on our team. We hire diverse staff then train them to exceed the high standards expected by our Management Company.
A newly employed officer partakes in a training program that includes:
Serve and Secure, a 40-hour Security Officer Training Program (Based on CGSB recommended standards)
16-hour course on Cooperative Policing (Allows Officers to investigate/complete Police Reports)
Customer Service Training (SMILE)
Orientation of the building/premises
Technical instruction on the operation/monitoring of the fire/life safety protection systems
Written information on company polices & procedures, rules & regulations for the Centre and Officer conduct
After basic orientation is complete, new officers are assigned a "coach" officer who will assist and continue the training process.
Ongoing training is an essential part of maintaining the best security team.
Officers undertake additional training sessions to:
Certification updating i.e. First Aid, CPR, AED, BBP, EMR
Conflict de-escalation/resolution (Verbal Judo)
Interview techniques
Cultural Diversity
Develop report writing skills
Self defence and restraint techniques (PPCT)
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
Scene investigation & preservation skills
