 Expansion Update 

 

We are currently working to bring you over 60 new stores… more shopping, dining, and entertainment to add even more value when you visit Chinook Centre. The expansion will add over 180,000 square feet, including a new 1,200 stall underground heated parkade. The expansion is located on the northeast corner of the existing building. Construction started in February 2008 with final completion scheduled for fall 2010.

Construction Fun Facts

  • It will take an estimated 1.25 million construction man hours to complete the project.

  • 14,933 truckloads of dirt will be removed from the excavation site... equivalent to 90 Olympic size swimming pools!

  • Over a million pounds of structural steel (roughly 500 tonnes) will be used in the expansion.

  • 10 Olympic size swimming pools would be required to hold the amount of concrete used in the project, a total of 3,000 large concrete trucks.
